Weather is the atmospheric conditions at any given time. Sunshine, rain, snow, and tornados are examples of different types of weather. We can observe weather and are affected by it everyday.

Temperature, precipitation, wind, cloudiness, humidity and air pressure come together to create different types of weather. By observing weather, studying it's patterns, using RADAR technology, and satellite images meteorologists can detect and track weather events.

Technology from the GIFTS satellite will greatly enhance meteorologists' ability to accurately forecast the weather. GIFTS will use over 32,600 sensors to collect data and scan an area of 317 miles square every ten seconds!
